Anne Folsom Smith has been practicing Interior Design for the past 35 years. Smith is a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, but has adopted Sarasota as her home. She attended East Tennessee State University as well as the University of Tennessee and holds credentials as an Associate AIA, ASID and is a Florida Licensed Designer.
Anne Folsom Smith Interior Design was established in 1983 with a staff of two and has grown to its present staff of 10. Her firm is actively involved in projects locally, nationally and internationally.
Anne has received numerous awards including the Aurora and Fame Awards, Designer of the Year DCOTA and Who’s Who Interior Design. She has been published in Southern Living, Southern Accents, Architectural Digest, Florida Architecture, Sarasota Magazine, Florida Design, Traditional Homes, Southern Homes and Coastal Living.
Senior Designer Fabiola is a graduate of Western Michigan University whose accreditations include Allied ASID Member and Florida Licensed Interior Designer. Prior to joining the AFSID team as Senior Designer in 1995. Fabiola gained experience as a furniture designer and space planner in Athens, Greece and as an interior design consultant with Jacobson’s Stores, Inc. She has completed numerous contemporary and traditional design projects incorporating sustainable and green materials and has had projects featured in various local and national publications. Her responsibilities include client consultation, design concepts, project and budget analysis and development and space planning. Born and raised in Athens, Fabiola now lives in Bradenton with her daughter Amanda. In her spare time she enjoys volunteering at the Cat Depot, visiting with family, traveling, fishing and going to the beach.
Since his arrival following graduation from UVA, architect Frank Folsom Smith’s buildings have made an indelible mark on Sarasota’s impressive cityscape. Smith was at the leading edge of retirement center design with Plymouth Harbor, which received the FAAIA Honor Award and the Test of Time Award. He also won the FAAIA Honor Award for his design and development for the clustered community of Sandy Cove on Siesta Key. In the 1980’s, Smith acquired and rehabilitated over 20 downtown Sarasota buildings built in the 1920’s, several of which have achieved listings on the National Register of Historic Places and became known as the Burns Court Historic District. His Conrad Beach development was cited as the community Development of the Year by Coastal Living Magazine.
Some of Craig’s responsibilities as our construction manager include the scheduling and coordination of sub-contractors, site visits and inspection of sub-contractors’ work and working with our designers to resolve construction issues. Craig is also involved with drafting and design.
Design Assistant: Tracy earned her degree in Interior Design from Boston House College, Cape Town, South Africa. She spent 11 years abroad in the design field where her extensive travels and diverse international exposure helped shape her metropolitan yet timeless approach to design. Tracy joined the AFSID team in 2009 where she is involved in design development, client consultation, construction documentation and installation.
Design Assistant: After receiving her degree in Interior Design from Florida State University, Katie returned to her hometown of Sarasota to pursue her career in the design field. As part of the AFSID team, Katie assists our principle and lead designers with all aspects of a project from conception to installation. She also manages our extensive library, meeting with our vendors, finding the most up to date product to bring to our clients.
Cindi grew up in Sarasota returning to the area after college and brief stops in Atlanta and Dallas. After many years as human resources manager at Jacobson’s, Cindi joined the AFSID team in 1998 where her responsibilities include; client communications and correspondence, receiving and shipping of merchandise and project installations. In her spare time she enjoys designing shell mirrors and traveling as well as her passion for animals which led her to volunteer with the local Racing Dog Rescue for retired Greyhounds.
Purchasing Director Lynda, originally from the New Jersey Shore, has lived in Sarasota since 1998. In 2003 she joined the AFSID team as Purchasing Director where she processes client proposals, purchase orders and accounts payable. Lynda enjoys gardening and she is an avid animal lover
Business Manager: Born in Philadelphia and educated in Maryland, Jeanne moved to Florida in 1979. Jeanne joined the AFSID team in 2008 after working for Anne’s husband, renowned architect and developer Frank Folsom Smith. Her responsibilities include accounts receivable and payroll. With a background in business management, accounting and real estate, she has served as Treasurer for the Florida House Institute for Sustainable Development, American Business Women’s Association, Women Taking Stock investment club and St.Wilfred’s Episcopal Church. Jeanne’s interests include travel, gardening and reading.
